The internet has a funny way of producing outcomes that flatten sectors, a fact widely seen in fields as diverse as communications, retail, journalism, supply chain management and finance. Now its the core aspects of money that are ripe for disruption.

Hub Culture and Thomson Reuters are partnering to bring the Ven Currency to over 500,000 Reuters terminals worldwide. From late September, Ven will be available on Thomson Reuters data network and desktop terminals globally, which will open new vistas for this currency with institutions across the planet.

Hub Culture has completed the first open position trade in Ven for the financial markets, making Ven available for forward trades through a partnership with the London Carbon Market.

Virtual currencies are in the news again with all the discussion around Bitcoins, which is limited in supply and can be exchanged anonymously. Our own long experience with another digital currency, Ven, has made us think about the logical conclusion of these activities, and what it means for money at large.  And what it means is the end of money as we know it.
